Welcome to Coal Energy Now

Hello, my name is Darren and I would like to welcome you to the Coal Energy Now website.  I am from a family that has always relied on coal for its livelihood and I, too, am supporting my family through work within the coal industry.

We are located in the middle of a large coal-producing area in the Appalachian Mountains that includes West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.  Here, prosperity and poverty are intrinsically linked to the success of the coal industry. 

With our futures so dependent on coal it seems only logical that we should stay well-informed on the current state of the industry.  To this end I have often asked those around me where they get their news.  Some state that they rely on the local newspaper.  I also often hear that the best information is available through word-of-mouth.  Unfortunately, I have found that the paper's coverage is minimal and word-of-mouth is frequently unreliable.  Worse still, a significant number of those I question don't really have an answer at all.

This website will help to change this.

Mission

At Coal Energy Now, our mission is simple:  To become the premier news source for the coal industry in the Appalachian Mountain area.

Content

To accomplish our mission, we will provide three categories of news content:  Local, National, and International.  Local news will consist of items from the coal-producing areas of the Appalachian Mountains where we are located.  The National and International categories will provide news from the rest of the country and from the world.

Commitment

At Coal Energy Now, we strive to provide you with current, accurate news about the coal industry along with news that may affect the industry.  Keeping you informed is our business.
