In 2006 West Virginia lawmakers called for an analysis of slurry injections to determine chemical composition and health risks. Two years later the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is still unable to provide this data.
Randy Huffman, the Director of the DEP, states that he is attempting to answer "some" questions and has "some" concerns. The Associated Press release, shown at WVVA-TV, does not divulge any of these questions or concerns so I'll assume that Mr. Huffman remained intentionally vague.
Why? Two years have gone by and they can't give the legislature some idea of what they are dealing with? And just how big are these "concerns" harbored by the Director of the DEP?
